Dog Training Success Stories

I reached out to Liz after bringing home a friendly, bright, mixed breed, rescue puppy. Liz came for several sessions, and our pup greatly benefitted from the positive reinforcement and concept training she learned. Liz tailored the sessions to our dog’s specific needs: a puppy, a rescue, 5 months old, shelter history, concerns about the outdoors, and an overwhelming desire to meet everyone. At 7-8 months, our pup has come a long way! With regular practice of the skills between sessions, she has developed much stronger skills in disengagement, impulse control, trust, play, manners, and so much more. (She also loves to play the toy game Liz taught us. It’s her favorite!) Thanks, Liz!!!
We engaged Liz to help acclimate our rescue puppy to our active household. Her insights have proved invaluable! She helped us get him on an age-appropriate schedule, establish basic manners in our home, and most priceless of all, helped us teach him calmness through markers and play. He has come so far in the short time we’ve been working with Liz and she’s given us the tools to continue to build on his training as he grows week to week. We are so grateful to have found Liz and Marshall always looks forward to her training sessions!

Having worked with a few trainers local to where we live in England, we really struggled to find someone who understood the specific challenges we faced with our sweet, but naughty, adolescent Irish wolfhound, Bran. This previous training we received was generic, with techniques geared towards small to medium sized dogs, and there seemed to be a general inability to provide any sort of tailored advice appropriate for a giant breed puppy.
Working with Liz remotely, it was immediately obvious that she was a different standard of trainer. She asked considered questions, listened intently, intuitively understood the issues and delivered bespoke, practical and coherent advice in a very reassuring, firm (yet kind) manner. Sessions were also followed up with emails and videos from Liz summarising key takeaways and homework, which were incredibly helpful.
With the calming techniques advised by Liz, we (and visitors to our home) quickly saw dramatic changes in Bran’s behaviour. He now lives harmoniously alongside our two elderly toy poodle siblings, three (soon to be four) children and is a bedrock, rather than force of destruction, of our very busy household.
We couldn’t be more grateful to Liz- and her faithful assistant, Cooper- and we would highly recommend working with them.

We had spent thousands of dollars on several trainers to help us manage our 4 lovable but rambunctious dogs, with no longterm success -- and then we found Hospitable Hounds and Liz Ziser. In just a few sessions and some homework on our part, our 2 new, very active puppies (Australian Shephard and Golden Doodle), were sitting, lying down, staying and BEST YET, not dragging me down the street while taking a walk. Their behavior in the house improved dramatically (there had been lots and lots of destruction!) and Liz helped us understand the dogs instincts and reactions to improve how all 4 got along. Most importantly, she taught US how to manage our dogs when she wasn't around. Our house has gone from constant doggy chaos to a much more manageable, happy home. Highly, highly recommend her and the company!!

Liz was so wonderful to work with! She is knowledgeable, kind and professional. My two very timid dogs gravitated towards her immediately which is very rare. Liz helped me train them to be less timid around food and to stop barking at neighbors walking by. After just one session we already saw a huge improvement in their behavior. After every training session Liz sent me a detailed email outlining what we worked on during the training sessions. These emails were very helpful reminders of what to do to so that I could be consistent with training at home. I definitely recommend Liz to anyone who wants to train their dog.

This is Fenrir, our three year old Shetland Sheepdog. We got him at 9 weeks old and he has always had issues with walking and barking. We purchased training sessions for Fenrir as a puppy, but we soon learned he needed a more hands on training experiences. I found Liz while researching dog trainers in Westchester, and honestly could not be more grateful! Not only has Fenrir learned so much, but his behaviors and walking has improved immensely. I cannot thank her enough for her dedication and love for our baby. She helped us understand our dog and work with him on a level that I never realized he was capable of. I would HIGHLY recommend Liz to anyone looking for a dog trainer. She is extremely skilled as well as patient, not only with animals but humans too! Thank you Liz for helping us!

Hospitable Hounds did a wonderful job with our new puppy. Liz was patient, fun loving and particularly caring when teaching him and us the importance of obedience training and how to lovingly get him to respond consistently. When he saw her coming, he knew his time with her would be fun and rewarding. Thanks Liz!

Liz has worked with us and our rescue Rat Terrier/Chihuahua , Biscuit. We all fell in love with Liz, especially Biscuit! She taught us many behaviors and gave us terrific guidance in being able to handle him. She also gave us extremely helpful tips so that he could play and be around his cousin, Bella, a Beagle mix, who is a bit older and fearful. We've managed to achieve a good balance and we have Liz to thank for that. We highly recommend her and know that you'll be happy working with her!

A few days after I brought home my puppy I knew I needed help! Liz taught me how to establish boundaries with my pup, how to train impulse control behaviors and offered lots of advice on raising a puppy. She is incredibly knowledgeable and provided a ton of information with every lesson. Thank you Liz for helping me survive being a new puppy parent!

Liz has been so helpful trying to get my dog Bella and my sister's dog Biscuit to get along. They were having difficulty being together. However, when Liz came into the picture there was a great improvement!! She went through many steps(and jumped through lots of hoops!) to get them to change their ways. Now they are pretty comfortable together. We all rented a house and stayed for 4 days. The pooches were very well behaved and even sat beautifully at an outdoor restaurant when we had lunch. No problems! In addition, Liz is so sweet and understanding .Kinda like the dog whisperer. Don't hesitate to call on her. She's great at her craft!!!🐶🐶🐶💜💜

Hospitable Hounds absolutely saved me when I got my puppy! We were having issues with biting due to teething and I was at a complete loss. Liz is patient, understanding and very knowledgeable. She worked with me and made sure I felt comfortable while also successfully teaching my new puppy how to stop using me and my entire apartment as a chew toy!

I contacted Liz for help with my overly excited 8 year old rescue, Lexi. We needed help with door and leash manners and basically controlling her over excitement and jumping. Liz taught me several techniques to help focus Lexi and help with leash pulling, jumping, and door behavior when company comes. After a few lessons we see major improvement. Others have noticed as well. She tailored the lessons to our needs and Lexi honestly loves the lessons and is very happy to see Liz at each lesson. I would recommend hospitable hounds to anyone looking to improve their dogs behavior. They use positive reinforcement, which has been very effective for us.

We were having issues with our dog barking when guests came over. We’re so thankful for Liz’s help because not only does our dog no long bark at our guests, she ends up wanting all their love and affection when originally she would have been timid or shy with someone who was my fiancé or myself. Liz helped us humans learns how things we were doing and not realizing were actually negatively impacting our dogs behavior. Through her kind, patient, and really knowledgeable advice and instructions our home is a lot more peaceful and our fur babies are happier than ever! 11/10 recommend Liz!

Liz was amazing with my dog Harper! Harper is a high energy golden doodle who loves everyone and had little to no boundary management. While we were used to it, others may not have appreciated her jumping on them. Liz was able to set us up for success to teach Harper how to calm down when she gets excited around guests coming over and general boundary management techniques. I highly recommend Liz to anyone who needs help with high energy dogs or need positive behavior training.
